My Travel Bucket List (2017)

 

My plan is to hopefully update this list as I complete the destinations and see more of the world, but for now I can begin with writing them down.

It would be both incredibly boring and worthless if I was to simply write EVERYWHERE, so I have tightened my list to my six most desired locations and experiences. These are goals on a pedestal above the rest, places that – for whatever reason – I have an intense eagerness to see more than anywhere else. So, in no particular order:

HIKE MACHU PICCHU

A place that I’m sure is nearing the top of many people’s bucket list, Machu Picchu has similarly always been a goal of mine. Waking up at the crack of dawn, hiking the hills, and treasuring one of the new seven wonders of the world is bound to be one of the most memorable days of your life. Maybe it’s the lust I’ve had for South America since visiting Ecuador – but Peru as a whole will remain on this list until I go.

THE GRAND CANYON

Another classic bucket list resident. If pictures don’t do this place justice then can you imagine what it’s like to see it in front of you? The Grand Canyon is just another example of how long I could spend touring the USA – just look at #horseshoebend on Instagram.

HAVANA, CUBA

In all honesty, I’m not sure why I am drawn to this city so much. Maybe it’s the retro cars and colourful buildings, maybe it’s the song – I have no idea but I need to go.

ICELAND (AND WHALE WATCHING)

Two of my absolute must-do’s before I die, so why not smack them together in a trip that I’m sure to relive for a lifetime. Iceland for a start is the country that seems to have it all: stunning scenery, the northern lights, whales, hiking, glaciers and waterfalls. On top of all of that, it’s practically a photographers utopia. And if you want to know why I want to go whale watching so badly, watch this video.

THE TAJ MAHAL

I didn’t know whether to write the Taj Mahal or the entire country of India – but you get the idea.

AN AMERICAN ROADTRIP (PREFERABLY STOPPING IN NEW ORLEANS)

A roadtrip across the US wouldn’t just be a cost-effective way of seeing as much as possible, but it also seems like a trip you can cater to float your own boat. You could watch a baseball game in Chicago, hike landscapes in Utah, tan on the beaches of Miami or the most appealing to me – soak up the music in New Orleans. The city seems vibrant and round-the-clock, with it’s culture scene overflowing. A campervan roadtrip stopping at the Grand Canyon and New Orleans? Literally – Y E S.
